DV Pro Operating Instructions

DVPro currently only works with ID-51 Anniversary Edition, ID-51+, ID-7100 and the ID-5100 (using Bluetooth or the SPKR2 jack). This is because these are we are calling Generation 4 radios that support the CI-V protocol on the data port. We are working to try to support other radios in the future.

***** If you hook it to the data jack on the ID-5100 or any other radios, it will cause the radio to do a LOT of transmitting!!! I'm working to fix that, hopefully soon.

DVPro connects to your radio with the same cable that you use to program your radio or use for DRATS. You will need to configure your radio to enable CI-V and to enable it on the Data jack.

As DVPro starts, you will see the configuration screen. You will need to select your radio and the COM Port that your radio is currently connected to. The other information should default to the correct values.

Once the program has started, in the Radio Display or DV Pro Radio Interface windows, the frequency that your radio is tuned to should show up quickly. If it does not show up, that's an indication that the program is not correctly communicating with your radio. Check the cable, the frequency, etc. the frequency that the CI-V uses is NOT the Data frequency!

Once you can see your frequency, the radio should start displaying call signs that your radio hears. On the DV Pro Radio Interface window with the Stations tab selected, you should be seeing stations listed as they transmit.

Windows

There are a number of windows that you may open to display information in various formats. You can open the windows through the toolbar on the main, DV Pro Radio Interface Window.

Initial Parameters

After the initial splash screen disappears, you will be presented with the Initial Parameters window. This window allows you to configure your Radio Type and the COM Port that it is connected to. You can also specify the CI-V Address and the port speed if they have been changed from the default radio settings.

DV Pro Radio Interface

This is the primary window that's used to configure items and open other windows. On the left side of the screen, you can see information n the station that last transmitted. n the bottom of the screen is the Receive light, status of QRZ, the connected COM port, and both local and UTC times. On the right side is a tabbed window that provides the following information

Stations

The stations tab shows the Last Heard List. It shows the call sign, the note, and the last time that the station transmitted. the list is sorted by the last heard time by default. If you want it sorted alphanumerically, you can change it in Settings - Sort Last Heard List Alphabetically.

Levels

The Levels tab shows the current levels in the radio and allows you to change items such as volume.

Configuration

Information in the top half of the configuration tab is read from the radio, including the My Latitude and My Longitude fields. the Banned Call signs List is used by the Net Control Window to exclude Call Signs from being added to the Acknowledged or Unacknowledged window.

QRZ

The QRZ window allows you to enter your QRZ information to allow, when connected to the Internet, the lookup of detailed information on the call sign that is being displayed in the Radio window. To enable, enter your call sign and password, then hit the Enable QRZ button.
