Installing a Gateway

When you get the RS-RP2C CD, open it up and read the file RS-RP2C_Setting_Eng_3.pdf. If you don't have a second computer to work from when you are installing the gateway software, then print out the file. It is 42 pages long.

If you have the document printed out, then on the bottom of page 14, write "STOP".

Start your installation and follow each step exactly. Do not go past page 14.

Do not run the software updates until the gateway software is installed and initially configured.

You must verify the Named services are running etc. If this works you can continue with ICOM install (This make take a reboot)

Continue with ICOM install thru page 19 (Configuration file changes)

Configuration

Has each of your users made an entry in the "Personal Information"   page? If not, each user must set the first line (# 1 of 8) to be able   to use the Gateway.
Check the box next to number 1 to enable editing for the line
Put a SPACE in the box under "Initial"
Do NOT check the RPT box
Type their call sign in the pcname box in lower case
Click the Update button

Now if you go to the "Terminal Information" page, you should see your repeater's call sign in the ZoneRPT CS box (other boxes should be empty).
Click the Filter button. You should now see the user who's personal information you just filled out listed on that page.

TargetCS will show their callsign, AreaRPT will show your repeater's callsign followed by an "A", ZoneRPT will show your repeater's callsign, Receive Time will show 1970, and PC Name will show the user's callsign in lower case.

Your user should now be able to talk through your Gateway, and should *hopefully* stop throwing unregistered errors in the log. After your user keys up and talks through the Gateway for the first time, AreaRPT  and Receive Time on the Terminal Information page will change to show your repeater's callsign and the band module they talked on (instead of callsign and "A"), and the actual date and time they keyed up.

Hopefully this fixes the issue you are having. You should also log in as administrator and create a Personal Information entry for each of your repeater's band modules and one for "S". When setting these entries for your repeater, you should check the RPT box next to each one (on the Personal Information page).
Good luck! Mark (KB9KHM)
